Gate City Brewing co hits 5-year mark with stride.

In 2015, after meeting at Rotary Club and bonding over a love of homebrews, two friends pooled their savings and set aside their corporate jobs to pursue their dream of opening Gate City Brewing Company. Fast forward five years, nestled in the heart of Downtown Historic Roswell, Georgia Gate City Brewing Co is a vibrant part of the craft beer industry. Co-founders, Pat Rains and Brian Borngesser have worked tirelessly to create a great line-up of solid and approachable beers for all beer drinkers. With a 30 bbl brewhouse, you can regularly find core beers like OTP IPA, Copperhead Amber, Awe Juice IPA, Terminus Porter, but also a changing roster of taproom only beers. Gate City will be celebrating it’s 5th Anniversary the weekend of Feb 7-9th with live music, new beer releases, special merchandise and food trucks all weekend- free entry.

“It is rare that I stop and take it all in but as I sit here thinking back on all that we have accomplished in our 5 years I am so extremely proud. I am proud of the beer that we have produced, I am proud of the impact that we have had in our community, I am proud that we have created jobs in Roswell.” Says Pat Rains, Co-Founder “I am proud that Gate City has become a community gathering place. I am proud of our success.”

Gate City Brewing Co has had some amazing highs from the last 5-years with their soft opening in 2014, “We were serving beers to the public in our brewhouse by selling tours, and we’ve come a long way since then” Brian Borngesser says, “Opening our taproom in 2015 was a huge moment for us, as well as working to change legislation so that we could sell beer directly to the public”. Since 2015 the brewery has grown to a 30 barrel brewhouse, with over 18 beers on draft in the Taproom and an additional Back House for private events and to serve as an overflow of serving space. In 2017, Gate City was named one of the Fastest Growing Breweries in the USA according to Brewer’s Association. Over the last few years, we’ve released Awareness Ales like Pitt Hopkins Pale Ale, which brings awareness and raises funds for the rare genetic disease. Most recently, we released Freedom Fighter IPA which brings awareness to the issue of human trafficking in Georgia and raises funds for local non-profits working to save human trafficking victims.

Gate City strives to brew beers that appeal to all of their beer drinkers as well as being actively engaged in our community. Gate City has an active beer drinking community from weekly cornhole league, running club, yoga events & charity nights. Come celebrate Gate City Brewing Cos 5-Year Anniversary party weekend “We are grateful and humbled by all the support we’ve received over the past 5 years and invite you to come celebrate with us!” says Pat Rains. There will be 28 taps flowing, live music and food trucks February 7th, 8th & 9th.
